Search engines

Getting a place in the search engines means creating a site which they will want to index. Behind the scenes, there are several basic rules to follow and I will always design websites to conform to these rules. Other things you may want to consider are...

On the outside...

Search engines love a site packed with content.

Plenty of (relevant) words help to feed the search engine spiders.

Regularly changing content - even if that is only a few words every month or so - lets the spiders know the site is still operational and is worth their while looking through it again.

Ranking

Getting 'top ranking' or 'number 1 in Google' is an extremely difficult task unless you have a website with specialist, niche content. As such, I cannot make any guarantees as to where in the search engines your site will appear.

However, you can be assured that your website will be technically correct for getting indexed by search engines.

Pay per Click

If it's important to you to get your website noticed fast there is one way of getting immediate listings in Google, and that is by using Pay per Click programmes, or PPC.

To help you get a head start before natural search engine indexing takes hold - or as an ongoing and affordable advertising campaign - Google offer the Adwords service, a Pay Per Click program which guarantees exposure for your site.

You control your spend by setting your budget, and you only pay each time a visitor clicks on your ad. Best of all, a new ad campaign becomes effective as soon as it is created, giving you an immediate Google presence.

You will have seen the ads - they're the ones in the 'Sponsored Links' sections on Google search pages, or other sites which choose to display Google ads.

If you'd like to know more about Google Adwords, please ask. I can get your first ad campaign set up with you, which will automatically email you a monthly report on it's progress. You get control of the account and you can tweak the ads whenever you like. Or, if you prefer, I can manage it for you.
